The 14th FIFA Junior World Cup (officially: FIFA World Youth Championship UAE 2003 ) took place from November 27th to December 19th, 2003 in the United Arab Emirates . 24 teams, including defending champions Argentina and Germany, took part in the tournament.
Brazil won the final against Spain 1-0 and was able to secure their fourth world title and thus catch up with record world champions Argentina in terms of the number of titles. The top scorer was US striker Eddie Johnson with four goals and striker Ismail Matar from the United Arab Emirates received the golden ball as the best player of the tournament .
Germany was eliminated with only one victory over the US as the bottom of Group F after the preliminary round. The youth teams from Austria and Switzerland could not qualify for the finals of the World Cup.
