Alexander Meyer (born October 19, 1983 in Jülich ) is a former German soccer player .

career

The defender began his career in Titz - Rödingen . Then he moved to Germania Teveren and then to the amateurs of Bayer 04 Leverkusen . In 2002 he was nominated for the U-19 national team and celebrated great success at the European Championship in Norway, where he was voted player of the tournament.

In the 2003/04 season he was appointed to the first team at Bayer Leverkusen, where success initially failed to materialize. During the entire season he had almost no match practice under the then coach Klaus Augenthaler . Therefore, at the beginning of the 2004/05 season, he was loaned to MSV Duisburg for two years , where he soon belonged to the team. With the club, Alexander Meyer rose to the Bundesliga , where he was one of the regulars of MSV in the 2005/06 Bundesliga season . Due to his good performance, Bayer Leverkusen decided to sign him again.

In the 2006/07 season Meyer could not play a single game for the Leverkusen professional team, as a long-term injury plagued him. For the 2007/08 season he returned to MSV Duisburg on a free transfer , but did not make a single Bundesliga appearance there either. In 2010 he had to end his career.
