For the 1999/2000 season Trochowski moved to Bayern Munich and was appointed to the amateur squad at the age of 17 in 2001/02. The following season he was also used for the first time in the Bundesliga and in the DFB Cup with the professional team. On December 16, 2003 Trochowski scored his first Bundesliga goal with the goal to make it 6-0 in the away game against SC Freiburg .

After twelve more Bundesliga games, Trochowski decided to move to Hamburger SV after FC Bayern could not agree on the transfer fee with VfB Stuttgart, who were also interested . The change was made during the winter break of the 2004/05 season . In the first game, Trochowski had to play for his former club Bayern Munich. In the 2005/06 season Trochowski had the most competitive appearances of all HSV players. Across all competitions he made 15 points scorer , although he had to vacate his regular position behind the top mostly for Rafael van der Vaart . He often played in left midfield . Under coach Martin Jol Trochowski was a regular in the 2008/09 season . Jol's successor, Bruno Labbadia , also relied on the national player at the beginning of the 2009/10 season . Together with Zé Roberto , David Jarolím and Eljero Elia, he formed the midfield of Hamburger SV until he was ousted by Marcell Jansen at the end of the first half of the season. In the second half of the 2009/10 season Trochowski sat most of the time on the bench. Jansen and partially Tunay Torun , Robert Tesche and Jonathan Pitroipa were preferred to him in his position . Even under Armin Veh , Trochowski was mostly just a reservist at the beginning of the 2010/11 season , but was able to earn a place in the starting eleven during the first half of the season, which he finally lost at the beginning of the second half. Trochowski was from now on only a reservist and was only rarely substituted. He did not extend his contract, which was running out at the end of the season.

His long disregard in the Bundesliga and in the national team led to the decision to leave the club at the end of the 2010/11 season. Trochowski's advisor Roman Grill established a connection with the Spanish first division club Sevilla FC , who signed Trochowski on May 23, 2011 to June 30, 2015. There Trochowski was on the grid from the start and made his first competitive appearance in the Europa League play-off against Hannover 96 . Ten days later he played his first league game for Sevilla FC, which they won 2-1 against Malaga FC . He scored his first goal for Sevilla FC on February 18, 2012 (24th matchday) against CA Osasuna in stoppage time to make it 2-0. Seville FC finished tenth at the end of the season, the worst season for the Andalusians since 2003 (also tenth). At the beginning of the 2012/13 season , however, Trochowski convinced again as a regular player and scored two goals in six games. He achieved this in the encounters with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona . In the game against FC Barcelona, however, he had to be replaced injured. After an initial misdiagnosis, which did not consider the injury to be so severe, an examination by Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt , the doctor for the German national soccer team , found cartilage damage in his right knee . Oct 2012 Trochowski was in a specialized clinic in Denver , Colorado from US specialists for orthopedic surgery Richard Steadman operated on. He was operated on again three days later after complications arose from the first operation and an X-ray diagnosis of a broken tibia . He was out for eight months and thus for the rest of the season. On September 14, 2013 (4th match day) Trochowski returned to the football field and met the opponent against whom he had lost 3-2 at home on 29 September 2012 (6th matchday) - against FC Barcelona, this time away with 2: 3. In 2014 he won the Europa League with Sevilla FC .

At the beginning of September 2014, the club announced the termination of the contract with Trochowski. However, this was denied by Trochowski. The subsequent legal battle between him, who was not allowed to play another game for the club, and Sevilla FC ended out of court. Trochowski did not go into details of the agreement in the media.

In July 2015, FC Augsburg signed Trochowski after a trial training session; he received a one-year contract with the option of an extension for another season. The club did not use the option; Trochowski only made six league appearances due to injuries and was bid farewell to manager Stefan Reuter on the last day of the match . Since then he has been without a club.

Since January 2020, the offensive player has been playing as an amateur at Hamburger SV III in the major league .

His only goals were scored on August 15 in Meppen in a 2-2 win over the Netherlands and on September 1 in Lungan in a 3-2 win over Northern Ireland. Trochowski first wore the national jersey of the senior national team on October 7, 2006 in Rostock, as the German team with 2: 0 on Georgia won. In 2008 he was a member of the European Championship squad , which came second in the tournament at the European Championship in Austria and Switzerland ; However, it was not used. After the EM 2008 Trochowski was regularly used in the national team. Trochowski's first international goal in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup on October 15, 2008 meant the 1-0 home win over the Welsh national team ; he scored the goal in the 72nd minute of the game. His regular place in the national team was also due to his good season, which he played at HSV. In the 2009/10 season Trochowski lost the regular place in the national team again. He was part of the German squad for the 2010 World Cup and had four appearances during the tournament. On July 7, 2010 he was last used for the German national team in the World Cup semi-final against Spain and has not been nominated since.
