Tunay Torun (born April 21, 1990 in Hamburg ) is a German - Turkish soccer player .

Career

In the club

youth

Torun grew up in the Hamburg district of St. Pauli and initially only played football in kindergarten; at the age of six he drove to a tournament with kindergarten. At the same time, a friend at FC St. Pauli had started playing football, and his father, Torun, recommended that his father also register his son in the club. Torun wasn't allowed to play at all at first, he was too small for the older boys. But at the age of eight he convinced in a trial session at FC St. Pauli and was accepted.

Hamburger SV

At the age of 16 years Torun transferred from FC St. Pauli in the youth academy of Hamburger SV . In November 2007 Torun signed a professional contract, but was initially used in the Regionalliga team. The attacker made his Bundesliga debut on August 23, 2008 (2nd matchday) - on 89th minute for Piotr Trochowski - in a 2-1 home win over Karlsruher SC ; He scored his first goal on November 28, 2009 (14th matchday) in a 1-1 away game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 . Hertha BSC and VfB Stuttgart

In April 2011 Torun signed a three-year contract with Hertha BSC starting the new season . He moved to Berlin on a free transfer because his contract with Hamburger SV expired. He was number 11 in the Hertha squad. For the Berlin team, he made 20 appearances in the Bundesliga and scored four goals. Hertha BSC rose to the end of the season after being eliminated in the relegation against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the second division.

On June 6, 2012 Torun signed a three-year contract with VfB Stuttgart . He made a free transfer. With VfB Stuttgart, Torun reached the round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League and the final in the DFB Cup in his first season . Due to injury, he only played nine league games for VfB.

Torun in Turkey

On January 6, 2014 Torun moved to the Turkish Süper Lig to Kasımpaşa Istanbul . After the second half of the 2013/14 season , he finished sixth with the club, but since the Turkish Football Association Kasımpaşa Istanbul refused the UEFA license, the team did not take part in international competition. After a 13th place in the 2014/15 season and a seventh place in the 2015/16 season , the club finished tenth in the 2016/17 season . Every season Torun was part of the team at Kasımpaşa Istanbul.

After his contract had expired, he joined the city and league rivals Istanbul Başakşehir , for which he only came to six point games. Torun was awarded to Bursaspor for the 2018/19 season. There he fought for a regular place, but rose with the club from the Süper Lig. For the second half of the 2019/2020 season, he switched to league competitor Çaykur Rizespor where he signed a contract until June 30, 2021.

In the national team

Torun has both Turkish and German citizenship. According to Torun, he was also contacted by Matthias Sammer as a player in the Turkish U-16 team. He told Torun that he was in the field of vision of the German U national team's coaching team and suggested that he should choose the DFB selection team. Torun, however, played international matches for the various Turkish national team.

On February 9, 2011 Torun made his debut in a friendly against South Korea (0-0) for the Turkish national team . He was substituted on in the 59th minute.
