National team

Babacan took part with the Turkish U-17 selection at the U-17 European Football Championship in 2004 and was used in all three games in the preliminary round there. He was also the goalkeeper at the U-17 European Championship in 2005 and played all five games when he won the European Championship. At the subsequent U-17 World Cup in Peru in 2005 , Babacan was the captain of the team with players such as Nuri Şahin , Deniz Yılmaz , Tevfik Köse and Caner Erkin , when the team only failed in the semi-finals with 3: 4 to Brazil and ultimately took 4th place occupied.

With the U-18 selection he took part in the UEFA-CAF Meridian Cup 2005, in the same year he won a silver medal with the Turkish Olympic selection at the 2005 Mediterranean Games . Babacan was also the regular goalkeeper at the U-19 European Championship in 2006 , but could not prevent the end in the group stage. With the U-21 he failed in the European Championship qualification, in the play-offs against Belarus in 2009 and in the group stage against Switzerland in 2011.

After he knew how to convince at his club for several weeks, he was nominated for the squad of the Turkish national team by national coach Fatih Terim following the 2013/14 season as part of an 18-day international game trip . In the first game of this international trip, Babacan made his international debut in a friendly against the Kosovar soccer team . After this game he was nominated for the next six games, but was on the bench. It was not until the qualifying game for the European Championship 2016 on October 13, 2014 against Latvia that he returned to an A international match. With this game he also conquered the goalkeeper's place in the national team and guarded the Turkish goal in the following eight international matches, with the exception of one friendly game against the Luxembourg national team .

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was accepted as a regular goalkeeper in Turkey's squad and played all three games until he was eliminated after the group stage. The decisive factor for the team not being able to qualify with a win was the goal difference, especially due to the 3-0 defeat against Spain.
