Fehmi Mert Günok (born March 1, 1989 in Karabük ) is a Turkish football goalkeeper .

Career

Günok was born as the son of the goalkeeper Mahir Günok in Karabük. His father was active as a professional football player for Demir Çelik Karabükspor at that time .

He began his footballing career in youth at Kocaelispor , later he moved to the youth team of Fenerbahçe Istanbul . In the 2008/09 season he rose to the first team. After moving from Serdar Kulbilge , he is number 3 at Fenerbahçe Istanbul. On August 15, 2010, the goalkeeper completed his first appearance in the Süper Lig when he came on for the injured goalkeeper Volkan Demirel in the second half . The game against Antalyaspor ended in a 4-0 win for Fenerbahçe.

With the end of the contract in the summer of 2015 Fenerbahçe did not receive a contract extension and then left this club after 16 years of service.

At the end of June 2015, Günok signed on with league rivals Bursaspor and signed a three-year contract with them. At this club he got the goalkeeper place after his move, but lost it to Harun Tekin . After remaining behind Tekin in the second season, he moved to league rivals Istanbul Başakşehir in the summer of 2017 . In his first season he only made few appearances in the Turkish Cup and the Europa League . He has been the club's regular goalkeeper since the 2018/19 season.

National team

Mert Günok went through the Turkish youth national teams of the U-16 to U-21.

He made his debut for Turkey's senior team on May 24, 2012 in a friendly against Georgia .
