Haupu ( Haupau , formerly Letefoho Subdistrict ) is an East Timorese place Aldeia and Suco in the Office of Administration Letefoho Subdistrict ( community Ermera ). Letefoho , the capital of the administrative office , is located in Suco .

5034 inhabitants (2015) live in Suco Haupu, of which 2602 are men and 2432 women. The population density is 596.5 inhabitants / km². There are 909 households in the Suco. More than 67% of the population name Mambai as their mother tongue. Almost 42% speak Tetum Prasa and a small minority speak Kemak .

Before the 2015 regional reform, Hauptu had an area of ​​16.31 km². Now there are 8.44 km². The Suco is located in the northwest of the Letefoho administrative office. In the northeast is the Suco Goulolo, in the east Ducurai , in the southeast Catrai Caraic , in the south Catraileten and in the west Hatugau . To the northwest, Haupu borders the Ermera administrative office with its Suco Raimerhei . The southern border is formed by the river Pusulu , the northwestern boundary of the river Hatoe .

The country road leads through the east of Sucos from the municipal capital Gleno to Atsabe and further south. Letefoho, the largest town in Sucos and the capital of the administrative office, is also on the road. Other places on the road in Suco are Cairia (Kairia) , Riatoni and Riamori . In the north are the towns of Haupu , Lutulala , Duhoho and Hauleo ( Haulio , Hauho ). In the southwest are the villages of Assi and Manucati Leten ( Manukati Leten , Manucatilaten ). Letefoho has a pre-school, a primary school, a pre-secondary school ( Escola Pre-Secondaria No. 705 Letefoho Villa / Haupu ), a helipad and a community health center. There are other primary schools in Assi, Riamori, Duhoho and Haupu.

In Hauptu there are the twelve Aldeias Assi , Beturema , Duhoho , Hatuhou , Hauleo , Haupu , Cairia , Lutlala , Manucati Leten , Raepusa , Riamori and Riatoni .

history

In 1903 an uprising of the Letefohos Empire against the Portuguese colonial rulers failed .

Most of Letefoho had to be rebuilt after the violence surrounding the 1999 independence referendum .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Mariano Soares was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Eugebio Alcino Maia won .
