The Kleine Tierpark Göppingen is a small zoo near Göppingen .

terrain

The zoo is on the B 297 , Lorcher Strasse 99, which leads to Bartenbach . It is about 1.5 hectares .

history

The zoo emerged from the "Aquarium Göppingen" association founded in 1892, which built a clubhouse on what would later become the zoo grounds at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1952 the first petting zoo was set up. For this purpose, animals were initially borrowed from pet shops. In 1975 the sponsoring association “Tierpark Göppingen e. V. “entered in the register of associations. In December 2013 the name was changed to “Der Kleine Tierpark Göppingen eV” Apart from the membership fees, the Tiergarten Göppingen is only financed through entrance fees and donations. The zoo is open daily and has a restaurant, a playground and a parking lot.

Livestock

Various old European breeds of domestic animals such as sheep, goats and donkeys, but also llamas from South America and other animals from the rural and domestic environment such as guinea pigs, rabbits and ponies, which are particularly popular with children, still form the core of the animal population, which comprises over 150 individuals. This is complemented by more exotic animal species such as monkeys, which were among the first residents of the Göppingen zoo, dromedaries, flamingos, small carnivores, crowned cranes and zebra mongooses.

The zoo in the media

"Tatjana's animal stories" were filmed in the Göppingen zoo in summer 2007. The contribution could be seen on September 4, 2007 as part of the state show. Already in 2006, the mandrill monkey Ramona, who was in the foreground in these recordings, could be seen in “Olis wilde Welt” on the children's channel . Further reports can be found on the Filstalwelle channel .
