Demba Ba (born May 25, 1985 in Sèvres ) is a French - Senegalese football player .

Career

The striker , who played for SM Montrouge in his youth, began his professional career at FC Rouen in 2005 . After a year he moved to Excelsior Mouscron in Belgium .

In August 2007 he went to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , where he signed a contract until 2011. He made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga on September 3, 2007 in the 3-2 defeat in the away game at SC Freiburg . In his first game in the Bundesliga , he scored his first Bundesliga goal on August 16, 2008 against Energie Cottbus . In his first Bundesliga season he played 33 Bundesliga games, scored 14 goals and provided seven assists.

In July 2009, Ba was about to move to VfB Stuttgart . However, the transfer failed because of a wound that had not yet healed during the sports medical examination and that came from an earlier operation on the fibula. In December of the same year, Ba extended his contract in Hoffenheim until 2013. For Kraichgauer , Ba played 106 times in three and a half seasons in the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga and in the DFB Cup and scored 40 goals.

In January 2011, Ba refused a ride to the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim winter training camp in Spain. He wanted to switch to the English Premier League, from where an offer came. Hoffenheim's manager Ernst Tanner denied having agreed to a change in winter. Because of the ruined relationship between Ba and Hoffenheim, it is now inevitable that "an offer in line with the market" for a change is important. On January 15, 2011, Ba failed a Stoke City sports medical exam after all parties agreed to move. Stoke City then stated that a permanent signing of the player was out of the question.

On January 28, 2011, Ba moved to West Ham United . There he signed a contract for three and a half years until June 30, 2014. It was agreed not to disclose the transfer fee. He made his debut on February 6, 2011 in a 1-0 home loss to Birmingham City , when he came on for Robbie Keane in the 76th minute . In his second game for West Ham United, Ba scored his first two Premier League goals in a 3-3 draw with West Bromwich Albion . At the end of the season West Ham United rose from bottom of the table. Then Ba moved to Newcastle United for the 2011/12 season .

On the 6th game day (September 24, 2011) of the 2011/12 season he scored his first hat trick in a Premier League game in the home game against Blackburn Rovers . In his first season for United, he scored 16 goals this season and reached with the club on fifth place in the table to qualify for the European Cup. In the first half of the season he scored 13 goals and was one of the few players in his club who was in 15th place at the end of the first half who could convince.

On January 4, 2013 Ba signed a three and a half year contract with Chelsea . In his first competitive game on January 5 in the FA Cup against Southampton FC , he scored twice and helped Chelsea win.

On April 8, 2014, he scored the 2-0 for Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain after a substitution by stabbing , thus enabling him to reach the semi-finals in his own stadium after the first leg in Paris with a 1 : 3 defeat had ended.

In mid-July 2014, the Turkish club Beşiktaş Istanbul announced the commitment of the Senegalese on the club's website. Ba signed a four-year contract with the Istanbul team.

After only one year at Beşiktaş Istanbul, Demba Ba left the club for China . The first division club Shanghai Shenhua paid around 13 million euros for the transfer . For the second half of the 2016/17 season he was loaned to Beşiktaş.

In January 2018, Ba moved to Göztepe Izmir and returned to Shanghai after half a year. In the winter transfer period 2018/19 he was signed by the Turkish first division club Istanbul Başakşehir FK .
