The FA Cup 2012/13 was the 132nd staging of the world's oldest football cup tournament; The Football Association Challenge Cup , or FA Cup . This cup season started with 758 clubs.
The cup competition started on August 11, 2012 with the extra preliminary round and ended with the final at Wembley Stadium in London on May 11, 2013. The winner of the competition was Wigan Athletic for the first time . In addition, for the first time since 1988 a club won its first FA Cup.

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Any team that has a certain level of performance and an appropriate playing field can take part. The pairings of each round will be drawn in an open draw without a seeding list. The team drawn first has home rights. If the game ends in a draw, a second leg takes place on the other team's pitch. If the second leg also ends in a draw, the game goes into extra time or penalty shoot-out. This mode lasts until the sixth main round. From the semi-finals onwards there is only one game, possibly with extra time and penalty shoot-out.
Some teams are exempt from certain rounds:
- In the second qualifying round, the teams from Conference North / South (6th division of the English league) are added.
- In the fourth qualifying round, the teams of the Conference National (5th division of the English league) are added.
- In the first main round, the teams of League 1 and 2 of the Football League (3rd and 4th division of the English league) are added.
- In the third main round on the first weekend in January, the teams from the Football League Championship (2nd division of the English league) and the Premier League (1st division of the English division) are added
The semi-finals will take place in a neutral place, the final in Wembley Stadium.
Each winner receives a bonus from the television money, which is staggered according to the round.
Main round
First main round
In the first main round, the 24 teams of Football League One or Two enter the competition.
The draw for the first main round took place on October 21, 2012. The games were played from November 2nd to 15th, 2012.
Second main round
The draw for the second main round took place on November 4, 2012.
The games were played from November 30, 2012 to December 12, 2012.
Third main round
In this round, the teams of the FA Premier League (20 teams) and the teams of the Football League Championship (24 teams) enter the competition.
The draw for the third main round took place on December 2, 2012.
The games were played from January 5, 2013 to January 7, 2013.
Fourth main round
The draw for the fourth main round took place on January 6, 2013.
The games were played from January 25 to 27, 2013.
