The FA Cup 1986/87 was the 106th staging of the world's oldest soccer cup tournament; The Football Association Challenge Cup , or FA Cup for short . The cup competition ended with the final at Wembley Stadium on May 16, 1987. The winner of this event was Coventry City . For final opponents Tottenham Hotspur it was the first and so far only defeat in an FA Cup final.

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Any team that has a certain level of performance and an appropriate playing field can take part. The game is played i. d. Usually only with a first leg. In the event of a tie, there will be a second leg. If this does not result in a decision, further repetitions are scheduled; until a winning team is determined. Each winner receives a bonus from the television money, which is staggered according to the round.

Semifinals
