The FA Cup 2000/01 was the 120th edition of the world's oldest football cup tournament; The Football Association Challenge Cup , or FA Cup for short . The cup competition ended with the final on May 12, 2001 for the first time outside of England at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff , Wales . After 78 years, the final did not take place at Wembley Stadium because it was demolished for a completely new building. The winner of this event was Liverpool FC .

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Any team that has a certain level of performance and an appropriate playing field can take part. The game is played i. d. Usually only with a first leg. In the event of a tie, a second leg takes place. If the second leg also ends in a draw, the game goes into extra time or penalty shoot-out. This mode lasts until the sixth main round. From the semi-finals onwards there is only one game, possibly with extra time and penalty shoot-out. Each winner receives a bonus from the television money, which is staggered according to the round.
Main round
First main round
The games were played on the weekend of November 17-19, 2000. The replay took place between November 21, 2000 and January 8, 2001.
Second main round
The games were played between December 8th and 12th, 2000. The replays followed on December 19 and 20 of that year.
Third main round
The games were played on January 6-8, 2001. Necessary replay games have been scheduled for January 16-27.
Fourth main round
The games took place on January 27th and 28th, 2001. The required repetitions were played from February 6th to 13th.
