Complete overview at: FA Cup

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Any team that has a certain level of performance and an appropriate playing field can take part. The pairings of each round will be drawn in an open draw without a seeding list. The team drawn first has home rights. If the game ends in a draw, a second leg takes place on the other team's pitch. If the second leg also ends in a draw, the game goes into extra time or penalty shoot-out. This mode is valid until the fifth main round. From the quarter-finals onwards there is only one game, possibly with extra time and penalty shoot-out.

Some teams are exempt from certain rounds:

  • In the second qualifying round, the teams of the National League North / South (6th division of the English league) are added.
  • In the fourth qualifying round, the teams of the National League (5th division of the English league) are added.
  • In the first main round, the teams of League 1 and 2 of the Football League (3rd and 4th division of the English league) are added.
  • In the third main round on the first weekend in January, the teams from the Football League Championship (2nd division of the English league) and the Premier League (1st division of the English division) are added

The semi-finals will take place in a neutral place, the final in Wembley Stadium.

Each winner receives a bonus from the television money, which is staggered according to the round.
