Ignacio "Nacho" Monreal Eraso , in Basque spelling Natxo Monreal , (born February 26, 1986 in Pamplona ) is a Spanish football player who has been under contract with Real Sociedad San Sebastián since September 2019 .

Career

Monreal comes from the youth work of the Spanish first division club CA Osasuna . After two years at Osasuna B, he made it to the first team in the summer of 2006. On October 22, 2006, he made his professional debut against Valencia CF. After he was used irregularly during the 2006/07 season, Monreal prevailed in 2007/08 and developed into a regular player. His greatest sporting success so far was reaching the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 2006, when they lost to the eventual winners Sevilla FC . However, Monreal was not used. The defender scored his first goal for Osasuna on February 17, 2008 in the 2-1 loss to UD Levante .

On January 31, 2013 Monreal moved to Arsenal FC .

In early September 2019, Monreal returned to Spain and joined Real Sociedad San Sebastián .

National team

Monreal took part in the 2009 Euro 2009 in Sweden with Spain's U-21 national team. After three preliminary round games, each of which he played in full, the team dropped out of the tournament early.

On October 10, 2009, he made his debut in the Spanish senior team in a 2-1 victory over Armenia . He was in the starting line-up and completed the full 90 minutes.
