Diego Javier Llorente Ríos (born August 16, 1993 in Madrid ) is a Spanish football player . His preferred positions are central defense and right wing defense . He has been under contract with Real Sociedad since July 2017 .

Club career

Diego Llorente began playing football as a junior at Atlético Trabenco Zarzaquemada in the Madrid suburb of Leganés . In July 2002, the then eight-year-old switched to the Real Madrid youth team , where he started in the Benjamin A (U-10) team. From then on, he went through various age groups until he was included in the squad of the club's C team, which played in the Segunda División B , in the 2012/13 season . For a league game against Real Sociedad on January 6, 2013 coach José Mourinho nominated him for the first time for the squad of the professional team, but ultimately he was just as not used as on May 11 against Espanyol Barcelona , where he was again on the exchange bench. On March 24, 2013, he played his first encounter for Real Madrid Castilla in the Segunda División against FC Córdoba . In early June of the same year he finally made his debut on the last match day of the 2012/13 season against CA Osasuna in the Primera División .

For the 2015/16 season Llorente moved to Rayo Vallecano on loan . There he came to 33 appearances in the top Spanish league and was able to score two goals. After the relegation of Rayo Vallecano, Llorente was loaned to FC Málaga for the 2016/17 season .

For the 2017/18 season , Llorente moved to Real Sociedad San Sebastián within the Primera División . He received a five-season contract until June 30, 2022.

National team

Diego Llorente made his debut in the course of preparation for the Junior World Championship on May 14, 2013 against the Paraguayan team in the Spanish U20. At the World Cup finals, he made three appearances and reached the quarter-finals with his team.

On May 29, 2016, he made his debut in the Spanish senior team in a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina .
