Robin Le Normand (born November 11, 1996 in Pabu ) is a French football player who has been under contract with the Spanish first division club Real Sociedad since July 2016 .
Career
Robin Le Normand, born in Pabu , Côtes-d'Armor , began his football training at FC Lamballe and joined the youth department of Stade Brest in 2011 . In the 2013/14 season, the central defender played competitive games for the first time in the reserve team Stade Brest II, which played in the fifth-rate Championnat National 3 . In the starting line-up he established himself in the 2015/16 season and was also listed in the first team's matchday squad for the first time at this time. On April 15, 2016 (34th match day) he made his debut in the 1: 2 away defeat against FC Sochaux in Ligue 2 , when he replaced the suspended Simon Falette . This mission remained his only one for the first team at Stade Brest, while he made 39 league games in three seasons for the reserve, in which he scored twice.
Le Normand left Brest after his contract expired on June 30, 2016 and signed a two-year deal with Spanish first division club Real Sociedad . There he was assigned to the reserve team, which in the third-tier Segunda División B played. With the Basques he started regularly in central defense and scored his first goal of the season on October 29, 2016 (11th match day) on the 5-0 home win against SD Zamudio . He ended his first season in 2016/17 with 26 league appearances in which he scored a goal. In the following season 2017/18 he was already considered an undisputed regular player and signed a new contract on February 17, 2018 until summer 2019. After an excellent season with the club, he played unsuccessfully in the playoffs for promotion to the Segunda División . He only missed two of the possible 40 league games and scored a total of two goals.
On August 17, 2018, Robin Le Normand renewed his contract, which now tied him to Txuri-urdinak until summer 2020 . His consistent performance in this 2018/19 season was also noticed by the head coach of the first team Asier Garitano , who pulled him up in November 2018. On December 2, 2018, he replaced the injured Diego Llorente in the 1-0 away defeat against Betis Sevilla and was on the pitch for the full length of the game in his first game in the top Spanish division. On February 12, 2019, his contract was extended for the third time in one year, with a term until 2022. He played three more league games in the 2018/19 season and was also used in three cup games. For the reserve, he played 18 league games in which he scored a goal.
In the 2019/20 season , he made his breakthrough into the starting line-up of the first team and benefited from the injury- susceptibility of the regular Aritz Elustondo . On November 30, 2019, he scored his first league goal for Real Sociedad in a 4-1 home win against SD Eibar . In total, he played 31 league games this season, in which he scored a goal.
