The 2007/2008 FA Cup was the 127th staging of the world's oldest soccer cup tournament; The Football Association Challenge Cup , or FA Cup . This cup season started with a record number of 731 clubs. Portsmouth FC won this event .

The cup competition ended with the final at Wembley Stadium , London on May 17, 2008. It was the last FA Cup to be broadcast by BBC and Sky Sports before transmission rights were switched to ITV and Setanta in August 2008 .

A total of £ 15m in bonuses was distributed (see below for distribution).

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Any team that has a certain level of performance and an appropriate playing field can take part. The game is played i. d. Usually only with a first leg. In the event of a tie, a second leg takes place. If the second leg also ends in a draw, the game goes into extra time or penalty shoot-out. This mode lasts until the sixth main round. From the semi-finals onwards there is only one game, possibly with extra time and penalty shoot-out.

Some teams are exempt from certain rounds:

  • In the second qualifying round, the teams from Conference North / South (6th division of the English league) are added.
  • In the fourth qualifying round, the teams of the Conference National (5th division of the English league) are added.
  • In the first main round, the teams of League 1 and 2 of the Football League (3rd and 4th division of the English league) are added.
  • In the third main round on the first weekend in January, the teams from the Football League Championship (2nd division of the English league) and the Premier League (1st division of the English division) are added

The semi-finals and the final took place at Wembley Stadium .

Each winner receives a bonus from the television money, which is staggered according to the round.

In the first main round, the 24 teams of Football League One or Two enter the competition.

The games will be played on the weekend of November 10th and 11th, 2007. The prize money is £ 16,000.
