Pedro Miguel da Silva Mendes (born February 26, 1979 in Guimarães ) is a former Portuguese football player .

Career

society

In Portugal he played for Vitória Guimarães and FC Porto . This was followed by positions in England, at Tottenham Hotspur and at Portsmouth FC , with which he won the FA Cup in 2008. After this success Mendes moved to the Scottish League for the Glasgow Rangers . The club paid a € 3.8 million transfer fee and provided the Portuguese with a contract until June 30, 2011.

January 2010 he moved back to Portugal. The first division club Sporting Lisbon announced the commitment of Mendes. He received a contract there until 2012 and hopes for more match practice. After just a year and a half, Mendes left Lisbon in July 2011 to join his former club Vitória Guimarães . He received a contract there until 2013.

National team

Pedro Mendes took part with the Portuguese U21 national team at the U21 European Championship in 2002 and played a game there. He played his first game for the Portuguese national football team on November 20, 2002, in a friendly against Scotland , where he won 2-0 with his country. Then he moved to FC Porto , which were Champions League winners the following season . Since then he has been a national player for his country. He was also in the national team for the 2004 European Football Championship in his own country. He played for Miguel in the final against the Greek national football team that the Greeks won 1-0. He also played in the 2006 World Cup qualifiers .
