Luke Steele (born September 24, 1984 in Peterborough ) is an English football player . The goalkeeper is currently under contract with Nottingham Forest .

Career

Steele made his professional debut on March 13, 2002 for Peterborough United in the Football League Second Division . On June 8, 2002, he moved to Manchester United for £ 500,000 , but was initially used in the youth and reserve teams and won the 2003 FA Youth Cup . He was loaned to Coventry City in the 2004/05 season, a process that was repeated during the 2006/07 season.

In 2005 he returned to Old Trafford and was the club's third goalkeeper after the departures of Ricardo and Roy Carroll, behind Edwin van der Sar and Tim Howard . For the 2006/07 season Steele was awarded again to Coventry in early August, but moved to West Bromwich Albion on August 10 , which he immediately left Coventry again. In December 2006 he was then awarded again to Coventry until the end of the season, where he came to some missions.

In December 2007 he came to his first competitive appearances in the West Bromwich first team. In February 2008 he was loaned by Barnsley FC in a blitz just before the round of 16 in the 2007/08 FA Cup against Liverpool FC for a month. The reason for the loan was the injury suffered by regular goalkeeper Heinz Müller in January , who was out for the rest of the season. Then Tony Warner was loaned out as a replacement from Fulham FC , but since Warner was in action for Fulham in the FA Cup this season , he was not eligible to play there for Barnsley.

Just two days after the move, he was on Anfield Road in the gate of the Tykes and helped the club to a surprising 2-1 victory over the big favorites from Liverpool with his saves. Steele was voted FA Cup Player of the Round by spectators for his performance . Even in the surprising quarter-final victory against Chelsea , Steele was in Barnsley's goal and did not score against the defending champions from London. The end of the cup followed in the semi-finals in front of over 82,000 spectators at London's Wembley Stadium after a 1-0 defeat by Cardiff City . After the end of the season he was firmly committed by Barnsley for the 2008/09 season.

In early August 2018 he signed a two-year contract with Nottingham Forest .
