The FA Cup 1984/85 was the 104th staging of the world's oldest soccer cup tournament; The Football Association Challenge Cup , or FA Cup for short . The cup competition ended with the final at Wembley Stadium on May 18, 1985. The winner of this event was Manchester United . For the first time, a player saw the red card in an FA Cup final. Irish player Kevin Moran of Manchester United was sent off after an emergency brake on Peter Reid in the 78th minute.

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Any team that has a certain level of performance and an appropriate playing field can take part. The game is played i. d. Usually only with a first leg. In the event of a tie, there will be a second leg. If this does not result in a decision, further repetitions are scheduled; until a winning team is determined. Each winner receives a bonus from the television money, which is staggered according to the round.

Third main round
The games were played on the weekend of January 5, 1985, except for the Gillingham FC game against Cardiff City on January 21. Necessary replay games have been scheduled for January 8th to 28th. By order of the FA , the game Burton Albion against Leicester City (1: 6) was repeated in camera; after the Burton goalkeeper was hit by an object during the game.
