Gilles Grimandi

Gilles Grimandi (born November 11, 1970 in Gap , France ) is a French football player .

Grimandi began his career in 1990 at AS Monaco and made his professional game debut in Ligue 1 in 1991 against AS Nancy . For this club he completed 90 games and scored 3 goals; mostly as a defensive midfielder.

He also helped AS Monaco reach both European Cup semi-finals: the UEFA Cup and the Champions League . He also won two championship titles during this time, in 1996 and 1997. In 1998, Arsène Wenger , who was then coach of Arsenal FC , joined the Premier League . He played his first game for Arsenal against Leeds United and has already won a " double " ( FA Cup and championship).

After winning another "double" and a total of 84 games, Grimandi finally moved in 2003 to the Colorado Rapids in the USA .
