James McFarlane McArthur (born October 7, 1987 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player who plays as a central midfielder for the Premier League club Crystal Palace .

Career

Mc Arthur moved in 2003 from the youth team of FC Clyde to Hamilton Academical . He made his debut in January 2005 against Ross County . He established himself in the Hamilton team the following season and scored his first goal in April 2006 against St. Johnstone FC . When he left the club in 2010, he had played almost 200 competitive games for him.

2010 signed a four-year contract with the former English first division club Wigan Athletic on July 23 at DW Stadium for a transfer fee of around 500,000 pounds . On January 31, 2012, McArthur scored his first goal for Wigan with a 3-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur . McArthur extended his contract with Wigan in May 2012, the new contract ran until 2016. On May 11, 2013 McArthur won the FA Cup and played the entire game in a 1-0 win over Manchester City in the final.

In 2014 McArthur moved to the Premier League promoted Crystal Palace for a transfer fee of seven million pounds. McArthur scored his first goal for Palace on December 13 in a 1-1 draw with Stoke City . In May 2018, McArthur completed his 200th game in the Premier League.

National team

On November 16, 2010, McArthur made his debut for the Scottish senior team as a substitute for Charlie Adam in the second half in a game against the Faroe Islands . He scored his first international goal on February 9, 2011 in a Nations Cup game against Northern Ireland .

In total, McArthur completed 32 international matches and scored four goals. He has now ended his national team career.
