Jeffrey Schlupp (born December 23, 1992 in Hamburg ) is a German - Ghanaian soccer player who is under contract with the English first division club Crystal Palace .

Career

Schlupp was born in Hamburg in 1992 and grew up in England . He attended the Oakgrove School in Milton Keynes there .

He has played in numerous Leicester City junior teams and performed well in the youth leagues and in the FA Youth Cup . He and his team reached the quarter-finals there at the beginning of 2011 and in 2011 won the Academy Player of the Year Award for best player in the youth teams.

In the 2010/11 season Schlupp was also part of the squad of the first team of the Foxes , which competed in the Football League Championship , the second English division. For the time being, however, he did not play a professional role and was awarded in March 2011 for an initial month to Brentford FC in the third-class Football League One . There he made his debut on March 15, 2011 in the 0-1 loss to Huddersfield Town . In his third use, the first over the full 90 minutes, he scored his first two goals for Brentford in a 2-1 win over Carlisle United on March 25, 2011. Due to his good performance, his loan was extended until the end of the 2010/11 season. He scored six goals in nine league games. In addition, the final of the EFL Trophy was reached, in which Schlupp and his team lost 0-1 to Carlisle United at Wembley Stadium .

For the 2011/12 season he returned to Leicester City and played on August 13, 2011 (2nd matchday) against Reading FC for the first time in the Football League Championship. On October 1, 2011, he marked his first second division goal in a 4-0 win over Derby County . He played regularly in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons and came to a total of 40 games in which he scored five goals. In January 2013 Schlupp completed a three-week trial session at Manchester United , during which he played two games for the U-21 team against Liverpool FC and West Ham United . 2013 Leicester City reached sixth place and thus the promotion playoffs , in which, however, Watford FC lost in the semifinals. In the 2015/16 season , Schlupp was English champion with Leicester.

In January 2017, Schlupp moved to Crystal Palace . He signed a four and a half year contract. In his third year for the Eagles , Schlupp scored his first competitive goal for Palace on matchday one of the 2018/19 season .

National team

Schlupp was eligible to play for the German , Ghanaian and English national teams.

In March 2011 he was invited by coach Ralf Minge to a course for the German U-19 national team, but did not appear in any of the DFB junior national teams.

In November 2011 he was invited by the Ghanaian national coach Goran Stevanović to a training camp for the Ghanaian national team in Paris and came on November 15 in a friendly against Gabon in Saint-Leu-la-Forêt as a substitute for his international debut .
