Scott Dann (* 14. February 1987 in Liverpool ) is an English football player who since 2014 for Crystal Palace plays.

Career

Walsall FC

Scott Dann played in the youth team of FC Walsall in 2003 and 2004 , then signed a professional contract there. During the 2004/05 season he was a regular on the reserve team, in 2005 he had a short stay at the Danish club Køge BK , where he played two games. In October 2005 he was awarded to Redditch United FC , who played in Conference North . After eleven games, however, the loan ended in January 2006. He was then loaned again, this time to league rivals Hednesford Town , who had to forego two important defenders due to injuries . After three games and a subsequent injury, however, the loan ended early. He returned to FC Walsall and signed a new contract there in May 2006.

In the 2006/07 season he became a regular player and he played 30 league games and scored four goals. A highlight of the season was his 1-0 goal in the Carling Cup against Plymouth Argyle , which brought his team into the next round. But the greatest triumph was winning Football League Two in 2006/07. Before the start of Football League One 2007/08, he signed a new three-year contract in June 2007. In January 2008 he surprisingly left the club. In 59 league games he scored seven goals.

Coventry City

In January 2008, he then moved to Coventry City for an undisclosed fee. The media estimate this at around a million pounds sterling . He also confirmed the performance shown at the Saddlers at Coventry, together with his teammate from Walsall Daniel Fox . So they could save the Sky Blues from relegation. Together with Fox, they also made their debut on March 25, 2008 in the England U-21 national team against Poland . In the 2008/09 season Dann was elected captain by the coach and completed 31 games that season in which he scored three goals. After 47 games and three goals, he left the club in June 2009.

Birmingham City

On June 12, 2009 he moved to Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee , but there is talk of a record amount for a defender at Birmingham. The local press estimates the transfer fee at £ 3.5 to 4 million plus an additional sum that depends on the hours of use of Dann. A hamstring injury hampered his fitness, so the coach didn't give him a chance to make his debut against Hull City in the starting line-up until September 19, after Franck Queudrue was injured . Birmingham won 1-0, then played a solid game and consolidated his regular place for the time being. At Christmas 2009, The Times correspondent Patrick Barclay described him and fellow defender Roger Johnson as "safe bank" for the season and even suggested Johnson as a future England international. Then was part of the team that remained unbeaten for twelve games, fifteen games across all competitions, a club record that contributed to relegation. He scored his first goal for Birmingham on February 13, 2010 at the FA Cup against Derby County . In training, he suffered a calf injury and thus missed the last three games of the season, which the club ended in ninth place. This was the best result for Birmingham in over fifty years.

In the pre-season 2010/11 in the Far East , he scored the first goal in the Xtep Cup in a 3-2 win over the Hong Kong League XI , a team made up of the best players in the Hong Kong First Division League . At the season opener against Sunderland AFC , he scored a 2-2 head-on goal after a cross from Sebastian Larsson and thus his first league goal for Birmingham, until Liam Ridgewell scored the 2-2 equalizer in the 88th minute.

In January he suffered a serious injury in the semi-finals of the League Cup and is out until the end of the season.

Blackburn Rovers

On August 31, 2011, Dann moved to first division club Blackburn Rovers for six million pounds and signed a four-year contract.

Crystal Palace

In January 2014, Dann moved to Crystal Palace . On February 8, he made his debut in a 3-1 home win over West Bromwich Albion .

National team

Scott then made two caps for England's U-21 national team . He made his debut against Poland on March 25, 2008 and played his last game against Wales on May 15 .
