Career
First stations
Andre Gray made his debut on August 8, 2009 for fourth division Shrewsbury Town in a 3-1 home win over Burton Albion . The attacker, who came from his own youth academy, played three more league games in Football League Two in 2009/10. He also collected match experience on loan to Telford United and Hinckley United in the sixth-rate Conference North . After his contract was not renewed in the summer of 2010, he moved to Hinckley United on June 10, 2010 on a permanent contract basis, for whom he scored thirteen league goals in the 2010/11 season.
Luton Town
After a further increase in performance in the 2011/12 season, he was signed by Luton Town on March 22, 2012 until the end of the season on loan with a subsequent firm commitment in the summer . For the fifth division he scored four goals in his first four league games and moved into the play-off final of the Conference National with his new team . The early opening goal by Andre Gray was not enough, rather the final opponent York City prevailed 2-1 and celebrated promotion to the fourth division. In the 2012/13 season he scored seventeen league goals for the table seventh. The 2013/14 season was much more successful. Luton Town confidently secured the championship title of the fifth division and Andre Gray became the top scorer of the Conference National with thirty goals.
Brentford FC
On June 27, 2014, second division promoted Brentford FC announced the commitment of the 23-year-old attacker. Gray was also able to prove his accuracy three leagues higher and celebrate a good debut season for the club from the London borough of Brentford with sixteen league goals. The promoted team moved unexpectedly into the play-offs as fifth in the Football League Championship 2014/15 , but failed there prematurely at Middlesbrough FC . In November 2014, Gray received the Second Division Player of the Month award.
Burnley FC
On August 21, 2015, the Premier League relegated FC Burnley Gray signed for a club-internal record transfer fee of nine million pounds. In September 2016, he was banned from the FA for four games because he had been homophobic on Twitter four years earlier .
Watford FC
At the end of August 2017, Gray moved to league rivals Watford FC. He signed a contract there until 2022. The club also stated that a club-internal record transfer fee had been cracked. Exact numbers were not mentioned, but English media put it at around £ 18.5 million.
