Brentford is a district of London in the London Borough of Hounslow at the mouth of the Brent and Thames . It is located in west London and is approximately 8 miles from Charing Cross .
Today it does not belong to the London borough of Brent , but to the borough of Hounslow.
history
The settlement of Brent dates back to pre-Roman times and thus even from a time before the founding of London. Many pre-Roman tools have been unearthed in Brent. The quality and frequency of the tools found suggest that Brentford was a meeting place for pre-Roman peoples, who probably held customs and ceremonies there.
It is also believed that the Thames used to be easy to cross at Brentford and that Gaius Iulius Caesar crossed the Thames at this point during the invasion of Britain .
Until 1888 Brentford was still an independent place ( Middlesex ) in front of the city.
In 1889, the Brentford FC football club based in the district was founded.
