Westrup is a district of the municipality of Stemwede in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke . It has about 560 inhabitants .

Geographical location

Westrup is located in the Dümmer Nature Park at the southern foot of the Kollwesshöh , the highest point on the Stemweder Berg . It is located between the Stemweder districts of Arrenkamp in the west and Wehdem in the east-northeast in a fruit-growing area.

history

Westrup was incorporated into the new municipality of Stemwede on January 1, 1973.

Infrastructure and culture

The place has a day care center. The annual largest event in Westrup is the shooting festival , which takes place at the beginning of June. Westrup was a prizewinner in the competition “ Our village should become more beautiful ”.

After the primary school in Westrup was closed in 2011, active citizens founded the Dorfwerkstatt Westrup eV in the same year. This citizens' association aims to face the challenges of demographic change, bundle the concerns of the citizens and strengthen the community. All village clubs and associations are involved in the village workshop in order to find the broadest possible consensus. 62 citizens have become members within two years (as of February 2013). In addition to the website www.westrup.de, they also run a newsletter, the Ausrufer. The village workshop tries to strengthen the attractiveness and quality of life in Westrup and the region through projects on various topics.

The next motorways are the A 30 and the A 1 . Both can be reached within 20 minutes. The nearest train stations are in Lemförde (main line Bremen-Osnabrück) and Rahden (regional train towards Bielefeld).
