Location of Dielingen in Stemwede

Dielingen ( Low German : Dielgen ) is a district of the municipality of Stemwede in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke . Around 2100 people live here. The place is divided into two parts by the Osnabrück - Bremen railway line . The eastern part is the 'village' and the western part is 'Reiningen'.

geography

With 275 inhabitants per km², Dielingen has the highest population density of the comparatively sparsely populated community of Stemwede - the district of Dielingen essentially comprises the village center itself. Immediately adjacent uninhabited agricultural areas, such as the Ochsenmoor to the north, are already in Lower Saxony.

From a church perspective, however, Dielingen is larger: The Lower Saxony Stemshorn and the Stemweder districts of Drhne , Haldem and Arrenkamp are parish in the parish of Dielingen.

Characteristic of Dielingen is the Dielinger Klei , which rises almost 92 meters southeast of the village center. The Dielinger Klei is not overgrown and allows a panoramic view of the Dümmer , a lake in the north, the Dammer Mountains in the northwest, the Stemweder Berg in the east and the Wiehen Mountains in the south.

history

Around 800 Dielingen was one of the oldest parishes in Saxony, which was conquered by Charlemagne . Predecessor buildings of today's St. Marien Church can be traced back to this time, i.e. as old as the oldest cathedrals in Cologne , Paderborn , Osnabrück and Minden .

Dielingen existed for centuries before the Christianization of the Saxons by Charlemagne around 800. The place name is said to come from the boardwalks that lead across bogs and swamp meadows nearby. In Old Saxon, 'thel' means the plank or plank and 'narrow' means the meadow or floodplain, i.e. 'Diel-ingen'.

The St. Matthias Brotherhood in Dielingen was founded in 1654 during the plague of the Thirty Years' War to bury the dead and to help the bereaved. Even today the dead are buried by the men of the Brotherhood. Every two years at Easter , a new group of four older people and six porters was committed to serve. A chandelier in the central nave of the Dielingen St. Marien Church still reminds of the founding of the brotherhood .

Until the regional reform, Dielingen belonged to the Dielingen-Wehdem office . On January 1, 1973, Dielingen became part of the municipality of Stemwede due to the Bielefeld Act .

traffic

Dielingen is on the B51 federal road between Osnabrück and Bremen. Trucks that are prohibited from driving on Sundays and public holidays, but which still drive the short section of the B51 within Dielingen between the districts of Osnabrück and Diepholz in Lower Saxony on Corpus Christi and All Saints' Day , are committing an administrative offense, as the days mentioned are not in Lower Saxony but are public holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The nearest train station is a good two kilometers away in Lemförde on the Osnabrück - Bremen federal railway line .

Companies

The largest company in Dielingen is ZF Lemförder, which produces chassis components as a subsidiary of ZF Friedrichshafen AG .
