The village of Sundern belongs to the municipality of Stemwede in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke . It has about 280 inhabitants. Sundern is a hilly, wooded place that is located on and on the Sundern Hill . The village consists of agricultural farmsteads and a historic bell tower.

As part of the regional reform , Sundern became a part of the newly formed municipality of Stemwede on January 1, 1973.
