Olšovice (German Wolschowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 19 kilometers northwest of the city center of České Budějovice and belongs to the Okres Prachatice .
geography
Olšovice is located on the northern foothills of the Blanský les on the right side of the Netolický potok in the headwaters of the Pištínský potok. The Mužský (502 m) rises to the southwest.
Neighboring towns are Podeřiště and Hláska in the north, Hlavatce in the northeast, Vlhlavy in the east, Mahouš in the southeast, Hlodačky in the south, Netolice in the west and Hradiště in the northwest.
history
The first written mention of the village took place in 1248 under the name Volišovice . From 1262 the village belonged to the Poděhusy Castle, which was owned by the Rosenbergs . In 1421 the Hussites under Jan Žižka burned the castle down. In 1481, Wok von Rosenberg sold the desert castle with the homonymous farm to Peter Kořenský von Terešov. In further sales the castle was mentioned as a desolate castle until 1548, after which it was never mentioned again.
