In 1414 a chaplain was established in Laz Marie . The current place name Svatá Maří can be traced back to 1543. After the Battle of White Mountain , the village fell to the royal court chamber, from which it was acquired by Jindřich Michal Hýzrl von Chodov in 1622. In 1650 the village consisted of only six houses and the church. In the period around 1700, several large fires destroyed parts of the village. Svatá Maří grew during the 18th century. Later Libotyně and Štítkov formed independent communities. In 1936 a lookout tower was built on the Mářský vrch on the initiative of the Malenice pastor , František Teplý.
