history

The first written mention of Zdíkov took place in 1318. The name of the village probably derives from the Winterberg burgrave Zdík of Janovice.

Under the Malowetz of Chejnov on Winterberg , Zdíkov formed a family fideikommiss. Johann Freiherr von Malowitz had Zdíkov allodized and sold the estate in 1799 to Franz Graf von und zu Sickingen . He sold the estate in 1803 to Colonel Jakob Freiherr von Wimmer. The Wimmerschen heirs sold Zdíkov in 1822 to Count Ferdinand Palffy von Erdöd. From this, the Prague citizen Jakob Wimmer bought the estate in 1829. Ferdinand Ritter bought it from Bishop in 1837.

In 1840 the Groß-Zdikau estate had a usable area of 8255 yokes 815 square fathoms. These included almost 6000 Joch forests that were managed in the Aussergefielder, Kaltenbacher, Planier, Buchwalder and Groß-Zdikau forest areas. To the south the estate reached as far as the Bavarian border. A total of 2910 people lived on the Allodgut; the population was linguistically mixed. The main source of income for the residents was cattle breeding, day labor and logging; agriculture was insignificant.

The estate included the villages of Groß-Zdikau, Mehlhüttel (Masákova Lhota) , Planie (Pláně) , Kaltenbach and Neuhütten , Buchwald and Aussergefield . The village of Groß-Zdikau / Velky Zdiekow consisted of 122 houses with 822 inhabitants. The population was described as partly Bohemian, partly German. In the village there was a stately castle with the economic office, a brewery, a distillery and a mill. A second mill was outside. To wholesale Zdikau included the settlements wholesale Zdikauer Waldhauser (Albrechtec) and Zabrod (Zábrod) as well as a hunting lodge and several farmsteads and -chaluppen to the forest south and southeast. Parish was Klein-Zdikau (Zdíkovec) . Until the middle of the 19th century the place was Amtsdorf of the allodial estate Groß-Zdikau.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Zdikov / wholesale Zdikau 1850 with the hamlet Masákova Lhota / Mehlhüttel a municipality in the district administration Prachatice . At the end of the 19th century the municipality had the official name Velký Ždikov . Masákova Lhota broke up in the 1920s and formed its own community. After Prachatice had to be ceded to the German Reich in 1938 as a result of the Munich Agreement , Zdíkov remained in Czechoslovakia and between 1938 and 1945 belonged to the Strakonice district and the Volyně judicial district. After the end of the Second World War, the village initially came back to Okres Prachatice, but was assigned to the newly formed Okres Vimperk in 1949. Since its abolition in 1960, Zdíkov has been part of the Okres Prachatice again. 1964 Masákova Lhota (with Nový Dvůr), Putkov and Račov (with Žírec) were incorporated. On January 1, 1980, Zdíkovec was incorporated (with Branišov and Hodonín).

In 1989 there were 1,093 people living in the district of Zdíkov, in 2009 there were 1,123.
