history

Archaeological finds of a Slavic castle and a burial ground prove that the area was settled since the arrival of the Slavs.

The place was probably created by slash and burn, its name is derived from the Laßraum and changed over time from Laziště, Laschitz, Lažice to the current form of the name. During examinations of old gold soaps in 1976, remains of ceramics from the 14th century were found.

Lažiště was first mentioned in writing in 1352 as one of the 23 villages in Hus Castle . In the same year a church was mentioned in a papal register of interest whose consecration to St. Nicholas did not take place until 1402. In 1553 a great fire broke out in the farm of the farmer Vondra, which destroyed eight farmsteads on the right side of the village square. At the transition from the 16th to the 17th century, the existence of a silver mine on Švihov is documented. At that time, the property was owned by Peter Wok von Rosenberg , followed by his brother Wilhelm von Rosenberg , then Wolf Nowohradsky von Kolowrat . In 1620 he had the previously Hussite parish abolished and Lažiště parish to Prachatice . The residents of the village were subjected to harassment at the time. The imperial troops stationed near Drslavice took the farmer Matouš Němec prisoner, he died in custody. Local judge Stuchel, whose family had owned warehouse No. 15 for 300 years, was executed along with his wife because he had refused to give the military food and fodder. In 1629 the military murdered the farmer Jíra Jiroušek. In 1630 Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg acquired the property. In 1673 another parish was set up in Lažiště. Johann Christian von Eggenberg bequeathed the goods to his wife Marie Ernestine von Schwarzenberg in 1710 , who left them to her brother Adam Franz Fürst von Schwarzenberg in 1719. He was followed in 1732 by his son Joseph Adam Prince von Schwarzenberg , from 1782 Johann I. Nepomuk Anton von Schwarzenberg and from 1789 Joseph II Prince von Schwarzenberg , whom his son Johann Adolf II Prince von Schwarzenberg inherited in 1833. In 1840 Laschitz / Lažisstie consisted of 37 houses with 330 inhabitants. The parish church and the school were under stately patronage. Laschitz was vicarage for Pietschnau , Scharowna , Drißlawitz , Dwur , Schwihau (Švihov) Klistau (Chlístov) Kratosin and Zabrd . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the allodial rule of Winterberg .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Lažiště / Laschitz 1850 a municipality in the district administration Prachatice . In the early 20th century as an alternative to Lažiště also Lažice used as an official place name. Since 1924, only Lažiště has been the official Czech place name. After Prachatice had to be ceded to the German Reich in 1938 as a result of the Munich Agreement , Lažiště remained with Czechoslovakia because it was in the Czech-speaking area and between 1938 and 1945 belonged to the Písek district and the judicial district of Netolice. After the end of the Second World War, the community came back to Okres Prachatice. The center of Lažiště was declared a rural monument protection area in 1995 because of the preserved homesteads in the Bohemian Forest.
