Castolarsky von Langendorf sold. In 1630 Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg acquired the village of Zarowna and added it to his rule Winterberg . In the berní rula from 1654, only the farmer Jakub Kůs is listed in Zarowni or Ziarowniczy . The Princes Dietrichstein later acquired the village and added it to the rule of Wällischbirken . From 1720 the German name Sharovna was used. In 1840 Sharowna / Žarowna consisted of 17 houses with 121 inhabitants, three of which were subject to Winterberg . There was a mill in the village. The parish was in Laschitz . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the entails rule Wällischbirken . The inhabitants lived from agriculture; gold soaps were also operated on the Žárovenský potok and its tributaries. In 1848 there were nine farms in the village. The place name Žárovna was in use since 1848.

After the end of the Second World War, the village came back to Okres Prachatice. After the collectivization of agriculture, the residents built a large cowshed between 1950 and 1952. Between 1964 and 1965 a farm on the village square was converted into a cultural center , which became the social center for Žárovná and the surrounding towns. Between 1966 and 1969 a pond was created in Žárovná ; the village was the first in the area to have one. In 1976 Žárovná was incorporated into Šumavské Hoštice . The social changes after the Velvet Revolution brought the end of the Kulturhaus, which is now in decline. The cowshed was also closed after the reprivatisation.
