history

Chvalovice arose at the end of the 13th century as part of the colonization activities of the Sancta Corona monastery . The place was first mentioned in a document in 1300. In Chvalovice there was a monastery farm, which was extinct during the Hussite Wars . In 1445 the village was mentioned under the German name Dirnhof . In 1513 Peter IV von Rosenberg Dirnhof received together with the Netolice lordship from Vladislav II . Johann III. In 1533 von Rosenberg granted Georg Puhler's house the right to brew light and dark beer.

Around 1880 the Pierron mining company opened a graphite mine on the hill between Chvalovice and Dolní Chrášťany . After the First World War, Prince Kinský bought the mine. In 1930 the Kollowitz trade union took over the mine and after the Second World War the municipality was the operator until the mining stopped.

The municipality belonged to the Prachatice District after the patrimonial reigns were replaced, became part of the Český Krumlov District in the 20th century and to the Okres Vodňany in 1950. After its dissolution in 1960 Chvalovice came back to Okres Prachatice and at the same time Babice was incorporated. On April 30, 1976 Chvalovice was attached to Němčice . Since November 24, 1990, Chvalovice has been a municipality again.
