Joseph I. Adam Johann Nepomuk Franz de Paula Joachim Judas Thaddäus Abraham Prince of Schwarzenberg (born December 15, 1722 in Vienna , † February 17, 1782 in Vienna ) was a German- Bohemian nobleman.

Life

Joseph was born as the son of Adam Franz Karl Fürst von Schwarzenberg and Eleonore Elisabeth Amalia Magdalena von Lobkowicz (* June 20, 1682; † May 5, 1741 in Vienna ).

Already at the age of ten he nominally succeeded his father and became the 4th prince from the Schwarzenberg family to participate in the knighthood of the Order of the Golden Fleece . He became KuK Chamberlain , Really Privy Councilor , First Supreme Court Master of Empress Maria Theresa and finally Minister of State and Conference. In addition, he holds the office of Reichserbhofrichter zu Rottweil .

Joseph I. von Schwarzenberg married Maria Theresia von und zu Liechtenstein on August 22, 1741 in Mariaschein near Teplitz (* December 28, 1721, † January 19, 1753), the daughter of Josef Johann Adam, Prince of Liechtenstein and Maria Anna von Oettingen -Spielberg . Soon afterwards he and his wife built the church in Postelberg , out of gratitude for the birth of an heir. In 1767 Joseph I bought the Neuschloß estate .

Joseph I. von Schwarzenberg received the prince diploma on December 5, 1746 for Bohemia and on December 8, 1746 for the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation , so that all marital male and female descendants were allowed to use the title "Prince" or "Princess" and was thus raised to the rank of imperial prince and the status of a Bohemian prince.
