Geographical location

Steinfeld is located in the Dümmer Nature Park , close to the Dümmer and Stemweder mountain between Osnabrueck and Bremen . The community belongs to the Altes Amt Lemförde , which its administrative headquarters in the spots Lemförde has.

history

There was already settlement in the Stemshorn area during the Neolithic and Bronze Ages . The relics of the five prehistoric wells in Stemshorn , which were discovered in 2017 about 900 meters northwest of the town center during the construction of a pipeline on an arable land, bear witness to this .

Facilities

At the Steinfeld on the outskirts of the municipality on the part Hunte lying Schäferhof . This was built in 1950 by the Hunte Water Association. It is now operated by the Naturraum Dümmerniederung association with the communication forum Alter Schafstall and is leased to a shepherd who grazes natural areas on the Hunte and Ochsenmoor.
