Staffhorst ( Low German Staaste ) is a municipality in the district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony . It belongs to the Samtgemeinde Siedenburg in which its administrative headquarters in spots Siedenburg has.
geography

The municipality consists of the four parts of the municipality Staffhorst and Dienstborstel as well as Harbergen and Üpsen.
history
The origin of the name Staffhorst is unclear, but it can be assumed that it is an made-up word that emerged in the course of the arrival of High German. The original name Stooster is probably derived from the Low German for traffic jam and is still used today by the “flat snacking” population.
An Anna von Staffhorst is named as the mother of Hiske von Frese (* 1482; † May 17, 1556), who was married to the castle man Andreas von Langen. It can be assumed that their name indicates their origin.
One of the more recent anecdotes about Staffhorst is that the location was assigned the 27255 when the five-digit postcodes were introduced, but the location belongs to the Siedenburg delivery area and should therefore be reached via the 27254.
In 2015 the community of Staffhorst took first place in the category "Hamlets and peasant communities" in "Our village has a future".
