Hannover 96

During his first assignment for Hannover 96 in March 2005 under coach Ewald Lienen , at the age of 18 in a test match against Neuenkirchen he tore a cruciate ligament that put him out of action for months. After rehab, he first played in the Oberliga Nord for the second team of Hannover 96 in order to gain match practice.

In preparation for the 2006/07 season , Rosenthal was regularly used in test matches, including against the English first division club Aston Villa . He made his Bundesliga debut on August 13, 2006 (1st matchday) in the 2: 4 defeat against Werder Bremen with a substitution for Wahid Haschemian in the 76th minute. In his second Bundesliga appearance on September 29, 2006 (6th matchday) in a 2-2 away game against Borussia Dortmund , he provided the template that Haschemian used to make it 1-1 in the 75th minute. He scored his first Bundesliga goal on October 21, 2006 (8th matchday) in the 1: 2 defeat in the away game against FC Schalke 04 with the connection goal in the 57th minute. On November 2, 2006, he signed a contract that was valid until June 30, 2010. In his first season he played 29 Bundesliga games for Hannover 96 and scored six goals.

On the 16th matchday of the 2008/09 season , Rosenthal held a penalty kick in the away game at VfL Wolfsburg after Hannover 96 had exhausted the exchange contingent and goalkeeper Florian Fromlowitz , who had caused the penalty , was sent off with a red card because of an emergency brake .

For the 2010/11 season Rosenthal moved to SC Freiburg , where he signed a contract valid until June 30, 2013. In his first season he played 22 Bundesliga games (five goals, three substitutions, twelve substitutions) and one game for the DFB Cup . With the Breisgauer he finished ninth in the table.
