Sudwalde from the east

Sudwalde ( Low German : Suwohle ) is a municipality in the Diepholz district in Lower Saxony . It belongs to the joint municipality of Schwaförden .

geography

Sudwalde is located on the southeast edge of the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park , roughly in the middle between Bremen and Minden . The municipality, which is located in the headwaters of the Hache , belongs to the combined municipality of Schwaförden, which has its administrative seat in the municipality of Schwaförden .

history

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the previously independent communities of Bensen and Menninghausen were incorporated.

The coat of arms of the municipality of Sudwalde is in the colors green and silver. In the upper part of the shield it shows a green oak leaf with three green acorns as a symbol for the wooden court Sudwalde-Klageholz. In the lower part the changed coat of arms of the county (Alt-) Bruchhausen, a shifted cross, is shown.

Culture, sights and infrastructure

Buildings

• The Protestant Church in Sudwalde , an early Gothic hall church , dates from the 13th century in its oldest parts.
• Today's Heuerlingshaus was built in 1766. In 1905 the Stubbemann family bought the building as a tenant house. In 1968, dentist Hans-Ulrich Raschdorf bought the neighboring property and used it in particular for his horses. When the now listed house was to be sold in 1990, the municipality bought it. It has been used for the village community as a Heuerlingshaus (club rooms and guest rooms) since 2001 .

Nature reserves

The third oldest nature reserve in Lower Saxony is in Sudwalde, the Pastorendiek (1926).
