The joint municipality of Altes Amt Lemförde is a joint municipality in the Diepholz district in Lower Saxony . Seven municipalities have come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The name refers to the " Amt Lemförde ", which already existed at the time of the Counts of Diepholz and during the time of the Electorate and the Kingdom of Hanover , and which in 1859 was affiliated to the Amt Diepholz .

Geographical location

The combined municipality of Altes Amt Lemförde is located in the south-west of Lower Saxony in the triangle of the large cities of Bremen , Osnabrück and Oldenburg . It forms the southernmost part of the Diepholz district . The combined community is bordered by the east and south banks of the Dümmers and the western section of the ridge of the Stemweder mountain .

The Samtgemeinderat of the Samtgemeinde Altes Amt Lemförde consists of 22 council women and councilors. This is the specified number for a joint municipality with a population between 8,001 and 9,000 inhabitants. The council members are elected for a five-year term by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.

The full-time Mayor of the Joint Community, Rüdiger Scheibe (independent), is also entitled to vote in the Council of the Joint Community.

Since November 1, 2014, the non-party Rüdiger Scheibe has been the full-time mayor of the municipality . In the last mayoral election on May 25, 2014, he was elected unopposed with 69.12% of the vote. The turnout was 47.1%.

Until 2006 there was a two-pronged Samtgemeindespitze with a full-time joint municipality director and an honorary joint municipality mayor. Herbert Petering (19 ?? - 1995) and Ewald Spreen (1995–2001) were the joint municipality director.
