The joint municipality Rehden is a joint municipality in the district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony . Five municipalities are united in it to carry out their administrative business. The administrative seat of the joint municipality is in Rehden .

Geographical location

The joint municipality of Rehden is the immediate eastern neighbor of the district town of Diepholz . The integrated municipality of Rehden is located in the middle of an idyllic moor and forest landscape, which is interrupted by farms with the associated agricultural areas.

history

The integrated community Rehden was formed through a voluntary merger in 1972 and consists of the five member communities Barver, Dickel, Hemsloh, Rehden and Wetschen.

In 2019 it was decided to start negotiations to transform it into a unified church. In March and April 2020, the council of the integrated community and the councils of the communities of Barver, Hemsloh, Rehden and Wetschen voted unanimously for a conversion, but the Dickel community council 4: 3 against. As a result, the project initially failed because all municipalities had to agree. However, some citizens felt they were not well represented by the Dickel local council and submitted a referendum. After a heated discussion, there was a referendum. With over 80% participation in the vote, the result of the council was confirmed with 55% of the votes, so that the conversion does not take place.

The council of the integrated community Rehden consists of 16 councilors. This is the specified number for a collective municipality with a population between 5,001 and 6,000. The 16 council members are elected by local elections for five years each. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.

The full-time Mayor of the Joint Community, Hartmut Bloch (non-party), is also entitled to vote in the Council of the Joint Community.

The last local election on September 11, 2016 had the following result:

The reed grass bundle is the etymological derivation of the place name Rehden from Reet , Redun equals cane / reed. The five bulrushes symbolize the five member communities of the integrated community. The cattails are grouped together by a six-leaf cluster. As an external sign of community, it symbolizes the community as a whole.

In the south of the municipality there are still preserved high moor areas, most of which are under nature and landscape protection. In addition to flocks of sheep, rare species of birds and plants such as sundew and cotton grass can be found in the raised bogs . The still intact forest areas of the Hemsloher and Dickeler mountains interrupt the relatively flat landscape. The local recreation areas of the Stemweder Berge , Dümmer and Dammer Berge are located a short distance away.

The integrated municipality is predominantly structured agriculturally. The facilities necessary for daily needs to cover the basic needs of the population are available in Barver, Rehden and Wetschen. The equipping with trade and service facilities also corresponds to current needs.

As of January 1, 2006, the joint community had debts of € 1,930,000.00. This was dismantled in the following years. With the 2013 budget, there were no longer any interest-linked loan debts. The remaining debt in 2015 was € 45,960.

The Rehden community has a community nurse station. Health care is provided by four general practitioners (in one practice each in the municipalities of Rehden and Wetschen), two dentists, a pharmacy, a speech therapy practice as well as a massage and physiotherapy practice in Rehden.

The primary school of the integrated community Rehden is located in Rehden, a branch is located in the member community Wetschen. A secondary school has also been set up in Rehden . Secondary schools are located in the town of Diepholz, 8 kilometers away. All-day care is provided at all school locations. Corresponding canteens have been set up at the Wetschen and Rehden locations.

Within the integrated community there are two kindergarten locations in Hemsloh and Rehden. The latter was put into operation in Rehden in 1996. In 2008 the construction of a crib was started there and set up in early 2009. Another crèche was set up in 2014 on the grounds of the Hemsloh kindergarten to look after the youngest children up to 3 years of age. In the neighboring forest area of ​​the local kindergarten, an area has been used for a year-round forest kindergarten for over 10 years. The care in the day care centers is organized all day according to needs. Following the closure of Barver Elementary School, the building was converted into a crèche, daycare center and an area for seniors in 2019.

Recreational facilities

In all member communities there are recreational facilities such as: sports fields, tennis courts, gyms, shooting ranges and barbecue huts.

A professionally supervised youth leisure facility was set up in the community of Rehden in 2014.

Through the federal road 214 Lingen - Diepholz - Nienburg and the federal road 239 Rehden - Wagenfeld - Herford as well as several state and district roads, the municipality area is well connected to the regional and supra-local transport network. By state road 214 to reach the 25 km away junction of the A1 in Holdorf . A freight railway line (Diepholz – Sulingen) runs through the joint municipality and affects the municipalities of Wetschen, Rehden and Barver. It is used by regional companies.
