The collective municipality Barnstorf is a collective municipality in the district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony . Four municipalities have come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The joint community has its seat in the stain Barnstorf .

Geographical location
The integrated community of Barnstorf is located in the valley of the Hunte , in the middle of a triangle formed by the cities of Bremen , Oldenburg and Osnabrück .

- the area of Barnstorf, incorporation of the communities of Aldorf, Dreeke and Rechtern
- the Drebber community , newly founded from the Cornau, Jacobidrebber and Mariendrebber communities
- the municipality of Drentwede , incorporation of the municipality of Bockstedt
- the municipality of Eydelstedt , incorporation of the municipalities of Donstorf, Dörpel, Düsten and Wohlstreck
history
The integrated community Barnstorf was formed through a voluntary merger in 1974 and consists of the four newly formed member communities Barnstorf, Drebber, Drentwede and Eydelstedt.

Joint council
The integrated municipality council of the integrated municipality Barnstorf consists of 28 councilors and councilors. This is the specified number for a joint municipality with a population between 11,001 and 12,000. The council members are elected for a five-year term by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.

Joint mayor of the municipality
Jürgen Lübbers (SPD) is the full-time mayor of the integrated community of Barnstorf. In the last mayoral election on May 25, 2014, he was re-elected as incumbent with 50.4% of the vote. The turnout was 54.7%. Lübbers began his further term on November 1, 2014.
