Hans Gerke (local history researcher)

Hans Gerke (* 1915 in Koblenz ; † November 20, 1998 in Diepholz ) was a German homeland researcher. He published numerous works on regional topics in the Diepholz district .

After studying in Heidelberg (history, etc.), he was a soldier in World War II (1939–1945), then a prisoner of war. From 1949 he was a secondary school teacher in Bonn and 1956–1978 in Diepholz, since the 1960s secondary school principal.

Gerke lived and worked in Diepholz ( Lower Saxony ) and worked as an author in the region around Diepholz. In addition to his job as a teacher in the Lower Saxony school service, he was honorary director of the district archive of the Grafschaft Diepholz district from 1967 to 1977 and honorary director of the district archive of the newly created Diepholz district from 1977 to 1998 .
