João Pedro , real name João Pedro Junqueira de Jesus (born September 26, 2001 in Ribeirão Preto ), is a Brazilian soccer player . The striker has been under contract with the English first division club Watford since January 2020 .

Career

Fluminense

Even before João Pedro made a single appearance in the Fluminense FC first team , the English first division FC Watford secured the rights of the then 17-year-old striker on October 19, 2018 . He signed a five-year contract with the Hornets , which will take effect after his arrival on January 1, 2020. He followed the example of Richarlison, who was also transferred from Fluminense to Watford in the summer of 2017 and quickly celebrated his breakthrough on the European stage there. He made his Fluminense debut on March 28, 2019 in the infamous Fla-Flu -Derby against city rivals Flamengo in the Rio de Janeiro state championship , which was lost 2-1. He made his league debut on May 18, 2019 in a 4-1 home win against EC Cruzeiro , in which he was able to contribute two late goals after being substituted on. Six days later he also made his debut in the Copa Sudamericana 2019 and single- handedly led his team to a 4-1 home win against Colombian representatives Atlético Nacional with a hat trick and an assist .

He has been under contract with Watford FC since January 2020.

Watford

João Pedro made his first appearance for Watford in the FA Cup . In the third round of the 2019/20 competition , his club met Tranmere Rovers at home on January 4, 2020 . In the meeting he was substituted on for Nathaniel Chalobah after the half-time break.
