Étienne Capoue (born July 11, 1988 in Niort ) is a French football player . His preferred position is the defensive midfield. He is the younger brother of Aurélien Capoue .

Career

society

Capoue played for Chamois Niort , FC Chauray and SCO Angers in his youth , before moving to Toulouse FC in 2005. There he was part of the professional squad from the 2007/08 season and made his debut in Ligue 1 on December 8, 2007 , when he was substituted on for the game against OSC Lille . In the 2008/09 season he reached 4th place with Toulouse and qualified for the UEFA Europa League , where Toulouse was eliminated in the group stage.

For the 2013/14 season Capoue moved to the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur .

Two years later, Capoue joined Watford FC .

National team

With the French U19 national team, he took part in the U-19 European Football Championship in 2007 , where he failed in the semifinals against later European champions Spain. For the French U21 national team , he was used twelve times, but could not qualify for the U-21 European football championship in 2011 . On August 15, 2012, Capoue came on for his first appearance for the French national football team when he was substituted on for the friendly against Uruguay .
