Joel Robles Blázquez (born June 17, 1990 in Getafe ) is a Spanish football player.

Career

He received his training at Getafe FC , from where he joined Atletico Madrid in 2005. In 2008 he played his first season in the reserve team of Atlético in the Spanish Segunda División B (third level in Spain). On December 27, 2009, he signed his first professional contract, which runs until 2014. He made his first division debut on May 9, 2010 against Sporting Gijón (1-1), as the first goalkeeper for the Euroleague final against Fulham was spared and the second goalkeeper suffered a knee injury after ten minutes. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season he was a short-term goalkeeper for three Europa League games, as no other goalkeeper was available after the departure of David de Gea and Sergio Asenjo, who was still healing . But after Thibaut Courtois signed on loan and Asenjo made a full recovery, he was only the third choice.

On January 18, 2013 Robles moved on loan to Wigan Athletic in the English Premier League . After only six months at Wigan and only 13 appearances, he moved to Everton, where he made his debut on Boxing Day 2013.
