The Dolmen Pierre Folle ( German for  “crazy stone” ) and the Allée couverte are megalithic structures built around 4500 years ago in the north of the city of Montguyon in the Charente-Maritime department in France . They have been a listed building since 1889.

investment

The avenue couverte is about 16.0 m long, 1.5 m wide and 2.0 m high in the west. 10 bearing stones and two of the original three cap stones have been preserved. Some bearing stones are inclined slightly inwards. The large capstone at the western end is 1.5 meters thick and weighs about 30 tons. The entrance to the almost west-east oriented gallery grave is in the northeast. The stones come from a radius of 2.5 km. The complex, built in the Aquitaine style, was originally covered by a mound of earth .

The Monguyon dolmen at the western end is apparently just a multitude of large stones. In detail you can see a simple chamber with access to the north. One side forms a stone of the avenue couverte.
