Allée couverte de la Pierre-Folle

The Allée couverte de la Pierre-Folle (also called Dolmen des Pierres Folles ) is a dolmen of the angevin type in Commequiers in the Vendée department in France .

In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ). The dolmen recently collapsed. Only three bearing stones are left in a row in situ . The opposite side stone fell over. The capstone has been lying diagonally on the row of stones since then. The chamber, which was over two meters high, was rectangular and measured about 5.0 × 3.0 meters. The entrance was to the east and the eastern part of the dolmen is best preserved. The rest of the stones are a confused mess, although the origins can still be identified.

Bowls ( French cupules ) can be found in different places . Underneath there is a foot-shaped indentation about 3.0 cm deep on the capstone. This approximately 19 cm long imprint is called the trace of the virgin ( French Pas de la Virgin ). The so-called "Devil's Finger" is engraved on a piece of rock about 2.0 meters east of the Pas de la Virgin. The place suffers from vandalism.
