Jordi Gómez García-Penche (born May 24, 1985 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish football player .
Career
Gómez played at FC Barcelona since he was a teenager . In the reserve team of the Catalans, he was 59 times on the field. In 2007 he moved to city rivals Espanyol Barcelona . First he played there in the B team of the club. He made his professional debut on March 23, 2008 against Real Murcia .
On June 6, 2008, he was loaned to Swansea City . Together with his teammate Albert Serrán Polo , he moved to the Football League Championship . Gómez scored the winning goal in September's first South Wales derby against Cardiff City in seven years. He finished the 2008/2009 season with a total of 12 goals in the league. He was a regular for the team during his loan period in Wales .
He returned to Espanyol but was immediately sold to Wigan Athletic . On June 19, 2009, he signed a three-year contract. The transfer fee was £ 1.7 million. Roberto Martínez , coach at Wigan, previously trained him at Swansea. His first game in the Premier League took place on August 15, 2010 against Aston Villa.
